We all have a tendency of grabbing screenshots while playing video games even though many of us rarely go back to view them afterward. A lot of the time there’s no real reason to check out the screenshots after you’re done playing the game, but what if there was? What if there was a way to make video game screenshots more interesting? Like, for example, being able to completely remove a screenshot’s background and replace photo background with something else. As it happens, there already is a tool that allows you to do exactly that and it goes by the name of BGremover.

The best feature about any VanceAI tool is ease of use, a trait that certainly applies to the Background Remover as well. The tool lets you replace background in photo of video games with just a few clicks and doesn’t require any previous knowledge of AI-based software. Whether you want to replace background of photo with that of another game or from real life is entirely up to you. For the purposes of this article, we’re going to demonstrate how the tool works by replacing backgrounds with those of other games in order to see what sort of crazy mashups we can create. But first let’s take a quick look at how you can get everything up and running.

How to Replace Photo Background of Video Game Screenshots with VanceAI

1. First, you’ll want to visit the official website of VanceAI and look for the ‘AI Solutions’ dropdown menu found in the navigation bar at the top. There are quite a few tools to play around with there, but the one you’ll need now is an automatic background remover.

VanceAI now also launches its software version. VanceAI PC is full-featured desktop software developed by VanceAI that lets you instantly process local photos in bulk with more customization options, which will significantly simplify your workflow and boost your productivity.

2. Click the Upload Image button to proceed and select a screenshot from your computer. The tool only supports images of up to 2000 x 2000 px and 5 MB in size with the free plan, so you’ll want to resize your screenshot if it’s bigger than that. You can remove these limitations by upgrading to a premium plan, but more on that later.

3. Once you have uploaded an image, click Continue and then go to the Processed Images tab. Here you’ll want to click Edit, which is the first button from the left. At this point you will be taken to a new window where you can change a couple of things, including the background color and background blur.  In order to replace photo background online, click the Select Image button and choose a different picture from your computer. Click Download when you’re happy with the results.

Examples of Video Game Screenshots with Replaced Backgrounds

Alright, so now you know that it only takes three easy steps to replace photo background of video game screenshots with pretty much anything you want. In this next section we’re going to show you some neat examples of what the final results could look like. Without further ado, let’s have some fun with BGremover.

Skyrim + World of Warcraft

As the protagonist of Skyrim you can easily handle anything the game throws at you. Draugr, vampires, dragons? No problem.  But would the Dovahkiin be able to handle the many challenges found in World of Warcraft with just as much ease? Hard to say. On one hand, your character in Skyrim can become absurdly powerful in the late game, being capable of clearing entire bandit camps with just a single Sout. Or entire villages if you want to take the evil route.

But on the other hand, World of Warcraft features many enemies that are vastly more powerful than Alduin, Skyrim’s final boss. All in all, it’s safe to say that the Dragonborn wouldn’t be a pushover in the world of Azeroth, however, the character would probably have a tough time trying to solo many of WoW’s more difficult encounters.

Horizon Zero Dawn + The Witcher 3

video-game-screenshots3

We often see developers praising games created by other companies but rarely does this practice transform into a full-fledged love story. Well, that’s sort of what happened a few years ago between The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red and Horizon Zero Dawn developer Guerilla Games. Both companies expressed mutual admiration of each other’s games on more than one occasion and even went as far as to create fan art of their own. And who can blame them? Both games are downright incredible.

That’s why when we found out how easy it is to replace background in photo of video game screenshots with VanceAI we just had to insert Aloy in front of Kaer Morhen. Too bad she wasn’t there when the Wild Hunt attacked. The Witchers could have really used an ally like her.

Detroit:  Become Human + GTA V

Detroit: Become Human is a very philosophical game that tries to answer the question of what it truly means to be alive. However, the game also has a tendency of taking itself much too serious at times. That why we figured Detroit: Become Human’s androids could do with a bit of relaxation in the wacky world of Grand Theft Auto V.

The android Connor likes to play detective and solve crimes, so why not let him make full use of his skills by throwing him into a city where crime is around every corner? He probably wouldn’t survive long if we’re being honest, but it would make for a fun experiment nevertheless.

Cyberpunk 2077 + Fallout 4

video-game-screenshots4

Johnny Silverhand feels right at home in the futuristic world of Cyberpunk 2077 but he probably wouldn’t look too out of place in post-apocalyptic Boston either. Fallout 4 has plenty of weird mutants, synthetic humans and other things that are just as outlandish as a virtual rockerboy. Digital ghosts like Silverhand could easily be explained in the world of Fallout 4 as a result of advanced scientific experiments conducted by The Institute.

Replacing the background of video game screenshots can be annoying when the game in question is something like Cyberpunk 2077 where there’s always lots of stuff happening on screen. BGremover works best when the screenshots are somewhat simpler. In this particular case the results aren’t too bad, though poor Johnny did lose a small portion of his left arm in the process. The missing portion looked very different compared to the rest of his metallic arm, which is why it was mistaken for being part of the background. These types of mishaps give us an interesting look into the “mind” of the AI and how it tries to figure out what constitutes a background and what doesn’t.

Darksiders 3 + Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

video-game-screenshots5

The Darksiders series has been compared to The Legend of Zelda ever since its inception. You wouldn’t think that would be the case simply by looking at them because the two games are quite different both aesthetically and thematically. Where the two really do feel alike is in terms of their gameplay and progression, in particular. Darksiders 1 arguably more so than the others but the sequels do have some of that Zelda vibe as well.

With that being the case, we figured we’d chuck the protagonist of Darksiders 3 into Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to see how she fits. As it turns out, the fit isn’t amazing. These titles may offer somewhat similar playstyles but they look incredibly different. But if Fury would be able to somehow make her way to Hyrule, it’s pretty safe to say she would wipe out the floor with anyone there, including Link should he try to challenge her.

Final Thoughts

As you can tell from our over-the-top examples, it’s incredibly easy to replace background of photo of video games with VanceAI. The results can look strange in some cases, but it of course all depends on what type of games you’re trying to mash together. We deliberately chose very different games to show that the automatic background remover works with absolutely anything you throw at it.

In addition to being simple to use and requiring no download, BGremover allows you to remove background from image free can also be used to free for a limited number of times. Head over to vanceai.com whenever you want to test the tool for yourself and consider upgrading to premium afterward if you like what you see. Paid plans start at only $9.90/mo and unlock a bunch of new features, including batch processing, the ability to upload much larger images, faster processing speeds, and more.
